I love my apartment. The unit is nice and the view is nicer. I work close by, and having the water this close to my home in downtown Toronto can be quite peaceful believe it or not. You really can't beat the location. The building management, however, is not nearly as pleasant. They aren't entirely honest and can be sneaky for their own benefit. They do not respect the time of the people living there and are very inconsistent with their office hours and keeping their word. If you can make it past the headaches caused by senior management, living there can be a very happy experience.

I liked living there...

I rented a unit on the 12th floor - it had a decent size, 1 bedroom, and a dan. Overall I liked living there - it is a nice condominium building though not very new but very well kept. It has a nice concierge area with a large aquarium and overall good amenities. I used the gym a lot and a few times the swimming pool. It can become a bit crowded outside on the street since it is located directly in the tourist area.

I used to live in 8 York condos. I love this location for its proximity to the downtown while being directly on the lake shore. You are literally steps away from the water. The condo had beautiful views on the downtown and water. It had an ok-ish gym and a nice swimming pool that is partly located outside which is great for summer.

catch the PATH

You can't beat the location or the views if you work in the financial district. You can catch the PATH at the Telus building and walk to work underground in 10 - 15 mins (great in the winter/rainy days). Amenities are good, but they are becoming a bit dated. It is located close (2 min walk) to all of the key necessities (dry cleaning, grocery, LCBO, fast food, etc.); however the options are limited to brand name franchises. The current Waterfront construction is causing traffic delays and the construction noise in the mornings can be bothersome (even for units on higher floors). The construction has been going on for some time and there is no immediate end in sight. The area gets a significant amount of pedestrian traffic in the summer, which can be annoying at times. It is located relatively close to the lakefront running and biking paths. But getting there, through 3-4 blocks of pedestrian traffic, can be a chore. That being said, the value compared to the newer buildings (e.g. MLS) is significant, and the location is much better than the buildings North of the Lakeshore. I would highly recommend the building to anyone looking for a downtown waterfront unit if they work in the financial district and want to avoid the TTC/commuting by car.

The truth..

Close to the core so if you're working down town you can easily walk to the financial district, ACC, rogers center.
Not so positive:
In the winter, Queens Quay is a frozen tundra, so walking anywhere off the path is a recipe for death.

pretty happy

Great location with awesome views. The layouts of the units are pretty cookie cutter (but I find them way better than the ones at city place anyway). Standard- above average amenities. Young professional neighbours and it doesn't hurt that there is a Starbucks attached to the building. The building is dog-friendly but there aren't enough green space around the building. Overall, pretty happy with what I experienced.

wouldn't recommend this...

My boyfriend lives here. It's a great spot if you're obsessed with going to the lake (personally for me it gets old pretty quick). The units are pretty small but are quite fitting for single bachelor guys just looking for a convenient location. I wouldn't recommend this for single girls though, there's actually quite a bit of crime in the area if not in the building. It seems like every time we go out for dinner and come back on Saturday nights, there's always a crime scene going on out front or in the lobby so security is high. It's a good temporary setting for figuring out where you want to actually be.
