Bad sound proofing

1) The sound proofing is really bad in the bedroom. This is beyond being a problem at this point - it should discourage you from buying or renting any unit in this building unless you make sure the bedroom is actually soundproofed (get the neighbour to make some noise or something). Management has yet to do anything about this issue, despite it having been reported numerous times by different condo owners. When we're in our bedroom, we can literally hear conversations, word for word, being had by our neighbours - they're not talking particularly loud, either, it doesn't sound like screaming, but as we're lying there wondering what they can hear from our side, we can follow along to each word they're saying. 2) Shoddy materials were used - floors uneven, cracks along parts of the wall can been seen through the paint, the tub gives in certain spots (we're not particularly heavy people), and the bathroom tap has 2 settings (extremely hot and extremely cold). These are actually pretty normal - I think most condos have these little quirks, but problem 1 is just out of control. 3) Only 2 elevators service the entire building - around 28 floors. Yup. When one is down because of maintenance or a move-in, plan for a 5 minute wait. ________________ Overall) it's a really well designed condo building. The concierge and cleaning staff are extremely pleasant and helpful. Most of the inhabitants are also extremely polite. If you find a unit that you're sure has sufficient soundproofing, it's a great place (4/5 at least, but it can be a serious mood killer if you have a bedroom soundproof problem). If you don't make sure your unit is sound proofed sufficiently, you literally may lie awake at night, in fear of what your neighbours can hear, or from what you're hearing. Or you could be complaining about your neighbour talking in their condo at a reasonable volume just because you can hear them like they're in your room.
