...It is a nightmare to live here. Violence and gunshots are quite common. This Condo has Pets and Pets like cats, dogs live. It's not one or two, there are several animals and pee and poo very common and it stinks terrible, sometimes ... Bike thefts are common and you get to see police cars all the time catching some or the other. Just opposite condo, there was firing once on some kid. You will see the most stressful people all the time showing anger in their actions. Everything looks pretty ambiance but the ground reality is different. Most of the units are occupied by medical staff and other doctors another wise no one would take these. Walking after 8 pm in and around the area is not safe due to several violence and gang issues. We decided not to ever stay in a condominium especially this one. One fire alarm activates, all have to rush out and in spite of several warnings people smoke and some times in the middle of the night. Fire trucks come to look at the alarms. It is a pain and these are real first-hand experiences after staying there for 2 years. Even on Christmas we did not have sleep due to shootings and reported gun fires in the park. The only good thing in that area was Daniels music school which is also getting closed and moving is what we heard. Very expensive and parking is a mess and you get tickets all the time as there is no way you can park the car or move around. Never recommend this place to anyone. Just search for gunshots in Regent Park and nearby areas and river street, in google and other searches, you will see how many you get. Never ever seen such a terrific area ...

Looking for a larger unit

(5.0 out of 5 stars)

This building is great for anyone looking for a larger unit and a big balcony. I live on the 13th floor and face south with an unobstructed view of downtown, the distillery district and the lake including the islands. The building has a ton of indoor spaces for your bike which they charge only $50 per year for. Paintbox has a gym with an ample amount of equipment with a good variety, a theatre, party room, outdoor terrace and BBQ area, public garden and a large meeting room off of the lobby with Wi-Fi.

The area is going through a huge transition right now so you have to be tolerant of all the construction around you constantly but in the end it will be well worth it including the new 6 acre park they are currently constructing across the street. We have a streetcar stop right at our door step on Dundas and can walk south one block to the Queen line and over to Parliament to go north or south with the TTC so it is very convenient to get around using public transit. As for the people living in the building it seems to be a lot of people who are early in their careers, students and people who have downsized so you get a wide variety of people, most of whom are very friendly. The social committee is pretty active organizing different events every month and there is a networking group that is getting bigger and bigger every month.

The only down side to the building has been some of the managements decisions regarding the use of the BBQ's, party room and terrace. As a result of a couple of bad experiences they are trying to enforce a no alcohol policy for these areas which is beyond ridiculous and in my mind not enforceable. They have also imposed stricter rules for the party room including the use of paid security for larger groups which is too heavy handed. In my view the board needs to take more control and not allow the building manager to impose such strict rules. Beyond that they building is great. Construction quality is at par with higher end buildings and like most buildings these days we experience the typical problems with elevators from time to time. If you are in the market for a resale condo or want to rent in this area, this building should be on the top of your list.
